The hardest thing about adopting a pet ….
It all begins with an idea.
2025 - March 13th
The hardest thing about having a dog is NOT what most people often think.
This is a serious topic that goes beyond potty training.
It is deeper than behavioral issues.
What is more important to you than money or appearance? Your health right? Well what about your pets health
The challenge is our dogs can not exactly tell us when they don’t feel good or what is wrong. It is vital that we know our pets and stay watchful of things that may seem out of character so that we can spot the earliest warning signs if something does affect their wellness at some point.

Early action saves lives, and our furry best friends deserve the best care and love we can give them. 🐶💖
If you ask a bunch of people what is the hardest part about adopting a pet, you will likely get many different responses. I bet most will say either training or more specifically potty training. While it is also likely that some might point to various behaviors that they find undesirable such as jumping on people or barking. Well, I disagree with all of those points. Although each is a valid concern that most of us have, and those are indeed real life challenges. However the absolute hardest thing about having a pet… despite having pets as a child, I did not learn until as a forty-something adult, I had to cope with the sudden illness and ultimately the loss of my best friend Gina. She was my soul dog… It was absolutely devasting and I still cry missing her joyful energy and unconditional love while feeling like I somehow failed her. … Did I miss the warning signs?
Undoubtedly, now when I read the list of warning signs I must acknowledge that at least a few of these went undetected and even a few others were dismissed by veterinary staff too. I am not blaming but rather pointing that much like with our own health we must learn to be our own advocates for our pets’ health and to act without hesitation. If you suspect that something might be wrong seek medical attention for your pet and request a full panel of bloodwork and relevant tests.
